Find Hunterdon Inmate Release Dates

A Hunterdon County projected release date depends on the type of custody and the legal stage of the case. A person awaiting trial usually has no fixed inmate release date because bail, pretrial decisions, court orders, and other holds control the next step. A sentenced state prisoner has an official calculation maintained by state corrections. County sentence information may instead require the court and the physical jail. Anyone asking when will they be released should separate a forecast from the event that actually ends custody. Credits, mandatory terms, conduct, parole action, detainers, and later court orders can all move or qualify the date.

Hunterdon Release Dates Defined

A projected date is a calculation about when a custody term may end. An actual release date records that the responsible agency completed the event. New Jersey’s state search uses the label Current Max Release Date. NJDOC defines it as the latest calculated maximum date after earned days reduce the term and negative institutional conduct adds days. It can change at month end. That field must not be rewritten as a guaranteed appointment.

The separate Current Parole Eligibility Date concerns the next expected point under State Parole Board calculation policy. Eligibility allows consideration. It is not a parole grant or proof of exit. A grant itself can set a future date and conditions, and new information can trigger rescission before release. NJDOC’s Date Out-of-Custody is the released-first field for a completed state incarceration interval.

Scheduled vs actual: Current Max Release Date is calculated, parole eligibility permits review, and Date Out-of-Custody confirms the displayed NJDOC interval ended.

A Hunterdon pretrial detainee often has no computed sentence end. Bail, a pretrial release order, dismissal, plea, sentence, detainer, or another case may control movement. Even a signed release order does not prove the physical custodian completed discharge at the same time. Corrections supplies the movement record; the court supplies legal authority.

Find Hunterdon Projected Release Dates

Classify the person before searching. A Hunterdon case can remain a county matter, lead to state prison, or involve another agency. Hunterdon processes local detainees, while Warren County Correctional Center physically houses them under the county contract. NJDOC is the correct source only when the person entered state correctional custody. Edna Mahan is an NJDOC prison in Hunterdon County, so its release dates belong to the state system rather than the county jail.

  1. Identify the custody system and gather the full name, birth data, HC or booking number, SBI number, and court case number that are available.
  2. For state prison, open the NJDOC offender search, accept the disclaimer, and search by SBI number when possible.
  3. Match aliases, descriptors, county of commitment, sentence details, and the exact incarceration interval. Do not rely on the name alone.
  4. Record Current Max Release Date, Current Parole Eligibility Date, any mandatory minimum, and Date Out-of-Custody separately. Include the access date.
  5. For a county sentence or unresolved pretrial case, obtain the judgment or order from NJ Courts and ask Warren and Hunterdon for the last custody event and official calculation.
  6. Confirm a completed state exit with Date Out-of-Custody or an agency record. Confirm a county exit with the physical custodian’s custody-event record.

The NJDOC field definitions explain the difference between Current Max Release Date and Date Out-of-Custody.

Hunterdon County projected release date NJDOC field definitions

These definitions keep a future calculation from being mistaken for the date that state custody actually ended.

For the full county, state, court, and federal verification sequence, use the Hunterdon County released inmate search. That broader route helps when the first system has no result.

Hunterdon NJDOC Release-Date Calculations

NJDOC calculates a state term from more than the face value of the sentence. The judgment, presentence jail credit, mandatory minimum, offense date, aggregation of terms, earned credits, forfeitures, and other lawful adjustments can affect the displayed maximum. County of commitment identifies the venue of conviction or sentence. It does not identify the current prison or the county where release will occur.

Public state data updates biweekly. Work release, furlough, and Residential Community Program placements may remain displayed and may not be reflected with full accuracy. Released profiles also stop being updated after departure and can later age out under NJDOC retention rules. Save the relevant field, incarceration interval, and access date rather than assuming the profile will remain available.

Maximum term
The total sentence under NJDOC and SPB jurisdiction, subject to lawful credits and adjustments.
Mandatory minimum
The part that generally must be served before release eligibility, less applicable court credits.
Commutation credit
Time remitted for continuous orderly conduct under the state schedule.
Detainer
A request or hold from another authority that can prevent return to the community.
Rescission
Withdrawal of a planned parole release after new information or proceedings before exit.

Telephone offender-information inquiries are not accepted under the NJDOC search disclaimer. Questions or corrections must be made in writing. A precise request should identify the SBI number, custody interval, field in dispute, and document needed.

Hunterdon Release Credits and Minimums

N.J.S.A. 30:4-140 provides a progressive commutation-credit schedule for continuous orderly conduct. The statute starts with 72 days for a one-year term, 156 for two years, 252 for three, 348 for four, and 444 for five. It continues through longer terms and provides 192 days for each additional year beyond thirty, or 16 days for each complete fractional month. Flagrant misconduct can forfeit remitted time.

N.J.S.A. 30:4-92 and NJDOC rules also address work, minimum-custody, and special-program credits. Productive occupation may yield remission up to one day for each five days. Qualifying minimum or community custody and special achievements can affect the maximum under applicable rules. These provisions do not authorize a reliable hand calculation from a sentence headline.

Parole eligibility follows another framework. N.J.S.A. 30:4-123.51 generally makes an adult with a specific term primarily eligible after a mandatory minimum, or after one-third of the sentence when none applies, subject to many statutory details. Credits do not cut a judicial or statutory mandatory minimum. Eligibility still does not equal release.

Note: County-only sentences are not automatically governed by every NJDOC credit rule, so request the responsible authority’s official calculation.

Hunterdon NERA Release Dates

The No Early Release Act, N.J.S.A. 2C:43-7.2, applies an 85 percent minimum to enumerated first- or second-degree crimes. It does not apply to every New Jersey conviction. The exact offense and judgment matter. Using the percentage as a universal rule would overstate the law and could produce a false date.

NERA also provides a post-incarceration supervision term of five years for a first-degree offense and three years for a second-degree offense. A person can therefore leave prison while remaining under supervision as if on parole. The prison release date and the later end of supervision are separate milestones.

Read the judgment for the offense, degree, mandatory term, and court credit. Then compare the official NJDOC field and, where parole is involved, SPB records. A public calculator or arithmetic based only on the sentence length cannot account for every credit, term, or later order.

Why Hunterdon Release Dates Change

A projected date is expected to move when the facts used in the official calculation change. Some factors reduce the term. Others delay exit, shift the person to a new custodian, or replace the expected path with a court or parole decision. Keep each event tied to the agency that controls it.

FactorPossible effectBest confirmation
Earned commutation or work creditMay reduce the calculated maximum under applicable law and NJDOC rulesNJDOC computation and current record
Negative institutional conductCan add days or forfeit remitted timeNJDOC calculation and disciplinary record, if releasable
Presentence jail creditCan affect the credited sentence computationJudgment and official sentence calculation
Mandatory minimum or NERALimits how early release eligibility may occurJudgment, statute, NJDOC, and SPB
Court amendment or aggregationCan change the controlling term or combine sentencesAmended judgment and NJDOC record
Parole grant, denial, or rescissionMay set, defer, or withdraw a planned parole releaseSPB notice or decision record
Detainer or another agency holdMay prevent community discharge or produce a transferCustodian event and receiving agency

A date change does not always mean an error. NJDOC expressly says Current Max Release Date can differ at month end. Compare the same incarceration interval, the access dates, and any amended judgment before seeking a correction.

Hunterdon County Release-Date Route

Hunterdon’s county custody route differs from the state calculation. Warren County Correctional Center physically houses all Hunterdon inmates under the current contract. Hunterdon still processes cases and publishes a dated current population report. That report has no release-date field. A name disappearing from it may reflect movement to Warren, NJDOC, another agency, Home Detention, court, or actual discharge.

Call Warren at 908-475-7900 and Hunterdon Booking at 908-788-1184. Ask whether the person remains in physical custody, what the last custody event was, and whether a receiving agency appears. For a sentenced county stay, request the official calculation from the responsible authority rather than applying state prison credits without proof.

Use NJ Courts to obtain the judgment, sentencing order, bail or pretrial release order, dismissal, violation disposition, or amended judgment. The court event states legal authority. Warren’s custody record shows whether and when physical movement occurred. A detainer can keep the person in custody after a court order that otherwise permits release.

Confirm Hunterdon Actual Release Dates

For NJDOC custody, Date Out-of-Custody is the clearest public field for the end of the displayed state interval. For county custody, request the last-event record from Hunterdon and Warren. Ask for the date and time custody ended, release or transfer type, authority, and destination or receiving agency when releasable. A transfer to NJDOC, ICE, another jail, or a federal authority must not be described as community release.

New Jersey VINE can provide a pending event alert. Register on the correctly matched person while the person remains in custody, then preserve the alert’s agency, time, and exact language. The Hunterdon VINELink release check explains how release and transfer notifications differ. An alert supports follow-up, but the underlying corrections and court records provide durable confirmation.

If no public result appears, report the search scope and date. Check identifiers, aliases, jurisdiction, state retention, and lawful sealing or expungement. The sound conclusion is that the date was not confirmed in the searched system, not that no custody or release event exists.

Note: Always name the agency and custody interval when recording a projected or actual Hunterdon County inmate release date.
