Edna Mahan State Release Records
Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women is an NJDOC state prison in Clinton. The current NJDOC facilities source controls its state status. A person leaving this institution follows a state-prison release path. Hunterdon’s current population report does not cover that state interval, and Warren County Correctional Center is not the releasing authority for an Edna Mahan discharge.
The strongest public field for a completed state interval is `Date Out-of-Custody`. NJDOC defines it as the date released from custody. Read it alongside `Date In-Custody` and the incarceration history so the result belongs to the correct episode. A person can have more than one period in state custody, and fields from separate periods should not be merged.
Search Edna Mahan Releases
Start at the NJDOC offender-search disclaimer. Accept it, then use the state search form. SBI number is the strongest key. When that number is not available, search the offered name and identity fields and compare aliases, physical descriptors, county of commitment, sentence details, and incarceration dates.
- Read the NJDOC scope and update warning before opening the search form.
- Search by SBI number where possible, or use the available identity fields.
- Open the matching profile and verify aliases, descriptors, county of commitment, and sentence information.
- Locate the relevant incarceration interval and record its Date In-Custody and Date Out-of-Custody.
- Save the access date and exact field wording, then contact NJDOC in writing if correction or a formal record is needed.
County of commitment identifies the conviction or sentencing venue, not necessarily the person’s current prison or release county. A search miss does not prove that no state stay existed. Released profiles can age out under NJDOC policy, and some records may be excluded.
The broader Hunterdon County release search explains when county, state, federal, and immigration records should be used instead.
Edna Mahan Release Search Fields
NJDOC’s field names separate an actual past event from a changing future calculation. Keep the labels exact. A parole eligibility date, maximum release date, or parole grant can inform planning but cannot substitute for an out-of-custody field tied to the correct interval.
| NJDOC field | How it applies |
|---|---|
| SBI number | The strongest state identifier for matching the person. |
| Date In-Custody | The start of the displayed state incarceration period. |
| Date Out-of-Custody | The completed release date for that displayed period. |
| Current Max Release Date | A recent sentence calculation that may change as days are earned or added. |
| Current Parole Eligibility Date | An expected eligibility point under State Parole Board policy, not proof of exit. |
| Mandatory Minimum Term | The nonrelease portion of the sentence, less applicable court credits. |
| Maximum Term | The total term of NJDOC and parole jurisdiction subject to lawful credits. |
The NJDOC field-help page provides the official definitions used for these records.
The field definitions show why Current Max Release Date and Date Out-of-Custody answer different questions about an Edna Mahan incarceration.
Edna Mahan Release Contact
Facility contact can help route an operational question, and the NJDOC location information supplies the official facility setting. NJDOC’s public disclaimer states that telephone offender-information inquiries cannot be honored. Search and formal record questions should follow the written state route with the SBI number, custody interval, and exact record requested.

Edna Mahan Release Record Limits
NJDOC says public data updates biweekly. Work release, furlough, and Residential Community Program placements may remain displayed and may not be reflected with full accuracy. Released and paroled records stop updating after departure, so an old parole label cannot establish current supervision.
Most profiles are removed one year after completion of the custodial term, measured under the policy from maximum expiration or completion of mandatory parole supervision where applicable. Community Supervision for Life and Parole Supervision for Life records are not removed under that completion rule. NJDOC or law enforcement can also exclude a record.
Current Max Release Date can change at month end as earned days reduce the calculation or negative institutional conduct adds days. The separate Current Parole Eligibility Date follows parole calculation policy. Neither field is a promise that staff will complete release on that date. Court amendments, mandatory terms, credits, parole action, or another hold may also affect the path. Record the official field and access date instead of calculating a new date from the sentence alone.
- Positive out-of-custody field
- Strong evidence that the displayed state interval ended on the stated date.
- Future maximum date
- A calculation that can move and does not prove release.
- Paroled label
- A historical NJDOC status that requires current confirmation from SPB.
- No public profile
- An inconclusive result that may reflect age-out, exclusion, spelling, or no matching state record.
When a profile is gone, request the appropriate NJDOC or court record. Preserve the access date, SBI number, and exact interval because a dynamic public record can change.
Edna Mahan Release Supervision
Parole is community supervision administered by the New Jersey State Parole Board. A parole grant can establish a future release date and conditions, but it can be rescinded before physical exit. A parole eligibility notice shows possible consideration, not a final release result. After an Edna Mahan out-of-custody event, current supervision must be checked with SPB rather than assumed from an old NJDOC profile.
New Jersey VINE can provide custody information and notifications. Select New Jersey at VINELink, choose the correct agency or jurisdiction offered by the live service, match the individual, and register from that result if a notification option appears. Release, transfer, escape, and other changes are distinct event types.
VINE is strongest before the event. An alert records what the feeding agency reported, but it is not a permanent release record and does not disclose every later hold. Save the alert’s date, agency, and exact language. Obtain the NJDOC or court record when formal confirmation is required.
Edna Mahan Release Documents
NJDOC Fair Release and Reentry Act materials describe a release portfolio that can include a temporary photo ID, final discharge paperwork, an account statement, and a medical summary. Where applicable, it can also address documents, transportation, or medication. These are state-prison release logistics and should not be copied onto the Warren county-jail process.
The final discharge paperwork is especially important because it comes from the state custody system. Keep it with the out-of-custody profile, sentence record, and any parole documents. An account statement or medical summary serves a different purpose and does not replace the release event itself.
Not every listed item is promised in the same form for every person. Ask NJDOC about the actual release portfolio and record for the individual case. Avoid inventing a pickup point, release hour, or transport plan that the official research did not establish.
Edna Mahan Two-Agency Release Trail
Hunterdon’s two-agency county trail still matters when it precedes state custody. Since January 2020, Hunterdon has used Warren County to hold all Hunterdon inmates. A woman may therefore move from Hunterdon processing to Warren physical custody and then to Edna Mahan after a state commitment. Each move closes one stage and begins another.
A transfer from Warren to Edna Mahan is not community release. The Warren event should identify NJDOC as the receiving system, and the NJDOC profile should show the state admission history. Only a later Date Out-of-Custody can close the displayed state interval. The fact that Edna Mahan sits inside Hunterdon County does not turn its discharge into a county-jail release.
The Hunterdon County Correctional Facility release page covers the local processing stage. Keep the county and state records in sequence so the same person is not mistakenly shown as released when custody merely moved.
Edna Mahan Release Destinations
An Edna Mahan out-of-custody event closes NJDOC’s displayed incarceration interval. The next status may include parole or another lawful form of supervision. NJDOC’s record does not stay current after release, so the State Parole Board must answer whether parole remains active. A registry record, when applicable, is a separate status and does not provide the prison exit date.
Federal and immigration systems should be checked only when the record points there. BOP Released means BOP custody ended, not that all custody ended. ICE released results cover ICE custody, while a transfer to ICE begins immigration custody. No federal prison or ICE detention center was identified in Hunterdon County, but geography alone cannot exclude an interagency transfer.
Use agency-specific language: “NJDOC custody ended,” “parole was confirmed by SPB,” or “custody transferred to another agency.” Those statements are more accurate than a broad claim that the person is simply free.
Note: A completed Edna Mahan release should name NJDOC, the relevant interval, and any confirmed supervision that follows.
