Hunterdon County Release Trail
A Hunterdon County jail record does not come from one building. Since January 2020, Hunterdon County has contracted with Warren County Corrections to house all Hunterdon inmates. Hunterdon’s Corrections Division still processes people, transports them, runs alternate incarceration, and publishes a current population report. Warren County Correctional Center in Belvidere holds the people placed in physical jail custody. The last event may therefore sit in a Hunterdon record, a Warren record, or both.
“Released” must be tied to an agency and a custody interval. Community discharge ends physical confinement for that interval. Transfer closes one agency’s control but begins another’s. Home Detention puts a person in the community under electronic monitoring, while a move to NJDOC starts state custody. The safest question is direct: Is the person still in physical custody? If not, ask for the date, event type, release authority, and receiving agency.
Hunterdon County Release Types
Each Hunterdon County release type points to a different next check. A court order can permit the jail to act, but staff still must complete processing and clear any other hold. A transfer is recorded as an end to the sending agency’s custody even though the person is not free. The event label and destination matter as much as the date.

Medical or court movement, escape, and death may also close or change an institutional entry. None should be described as an ordinary release home. Hunterdon County corrections records should be read by their exact event wording.

A focused release record connects identity, the booking episode, and the final custody action. Hunterdon County’s public population PDF does not contain this full set. It shows a dated current snapshot with names, HC numbers, active charges, bail information, population totals, and alternate-custody categories. A formal request should seek the underlying event record rather than assume all details appear on one public form.

A court judgment can preserve the legal reason long after a short jail stay, but it does not prove the exact moment a person left the building. Corrections documents the physical event. When the dates differ, keep both and identify what each source proves.
Request Hunterdon County Release Records
Hunterdon County accepts public-record requests through its NextRequest portal. County Counsel is the local records custodian at 71 Main Street, Building 1, third floor, P.O. Box 2900, Flemington, NJ 08822. The office can be reached at 908-788-1546 or opra@co.hunterdon.nj.us. A Warren request may also be needed because Warren creates or keeps physical-custody records for Hunterdon detainees.
- Identify the person with full name, aliases, date of birth, and HC or booking number when known. Give a narrow date range.
- Ask for the booking or intake record, each custody movement, and the record showing the date and time custody ended.
- Request the release type, authority, and destination or receiving agency for any transfer, if releasable.
- Ask for an existing electronic copy. State that a redacted releasable version is acceptable.
- Save the request number, response, document names, denial citations, and any referral from Hunterdon to Warren or NJ Courts.
Ordinary requests for currently available records are generally answered as soon as possible and no later than seven business days under current New Jersey OPRA materials. Paper duplication is generally $0.05 for a letter-size page and $0.07 for a legal-size page. Electronic delivery may avoid paper costs, while archive review or unusual effort can change the process. Hunterdon County Court Release Proof
Hunterdon County’s OPRA page expressly sends Superior Court criminal and expungement records to NJ Courts. That split is useful. Court files can show a bail or pretrial release order, dismissal, judgment of conviction, sentence, jail credit, time served, probation, or amended judgment. The corrections record then shows whether staff completed the exit or instead transferred the person.
Adult indictable cases may appear in PROMIS/Gavel, while municipal matters follow municipal-court systems. Start with the complaint or docket number and ask the correct court for a named document. Published vicinage hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A dismissed case remains public unless later expunged. An expunged case is removed from Judiciary public databases and cannot be disclosed by court staff. Do not try to rebuild sealed or expunged material from old copies. A lawful public-search gap may reflect record scope, spelling, retention, or expungement.
Hunterdon County Two-Agency Release Trail
The two-county arrangement is the defining Hunterdon County release fact. Hunterdon maintains corrections functions and its current report, but Warren holds all Hunterdon inmates at the Warren County Correctional Center. A person may be booked or tracked by Hunterdon, moved to Belvidere, and physically released or transferred by Warren. One county’s record rarely tells the full story by itself.
Call Hunterdon Corrections at 908-788-1213 or Booking at 908-788-1184, then call Warren at 908-475-7900. Ask both offices for the same last-event details. If Warren says the person left for NJDOC, that is a state transfer. If Warren says the person left for ICE or USMS, local custody ended but another agency took control. If Hunterdon shows Home Detention, the person may be in the community while still serving an alternate custodial sentence.
Source labels should stay with each fact. “Hunterdon current report,” “Warren physical custody,” and “NJDOC out-of-custody date” are clearer than one broad claim that the person was released.
Find Hunterdon County Released Inmates
A search should follow the likely custodian. Begin with the current county snapshot only to see whether it listed the person on its report date. Then contact the physical jail, check the legal disposition, and obtain a custody-event record. Move to NJDOC only when a state-prison commitment or transfer is plausible. Federal and immigration systems have their own scope.
- Check the Hunterdon current population report and record its date, exact spelling, HC number, charge, and bail fields.
- Ask Warren whether the person remains in physical custody. If not, request the last event, date, authority, and destination.
- Confirm Hunterdon’s processing or alternate-custody record through Corrections or Booking.
- Match the relevant complaint, dismissal, bail order, sentence, or judgment through the correct NJ Courts route.
- Search NJDOC for a state commitment, BOP for federal custody, or ICE ODLS for immigration custody when the event points there.
- File narrow records requests when phone or online results cannot document the release.
Why did the name disappear? A negative roster result is weaker than a positive dated result. The report may lag, the spelling may differ, or the person may have moved to Warren, court, home detention, NJDOC, federal custody, immigration custody, or the community.

Hunterdon County NJDOC Release Search
The New Jersey Department of Corrections offender search applies to state prison custody, including a person held at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women. It does not provide a history of a Hunterdon county-jail stay that never became a state commitment. Accept the disclaimer, use the SBI number when possible, and match the detail record to the right incarceration interval.

NJDOC says public information updates biweekly. Community placements may not be shown with full accuracy, and released or paroled profiles stop updating after departure. Most records are removed one year after completion of the custodial term under the stated policy. Save the relevant in-custody and out-of-custody pair with the access date.

Hunterdon County Release Roster Limits
No official Hunterdon or Warren 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour release feed was found in the official source sweep. Hunterdon publishes a dated Current Population and Active Charges page. Its PDF is a current snapshot, not a recent-release archive. It has no release date, release reason, discharge status, rolling time window, or booking-photo field.

No official Hunterdon jail-information mobile app with releases or mugshots was found. Generic social links do not create an inmate feed. For a narrow same-day event, call Warren and Hunterdon Booking, then request the custody log for the relevant date range.
Getting Home After Hunterdon Release
Hunterdon inmates are physically held in Belvidere, outside Hunterdon County. That distance changes release planning. Hunterdon LINK serves Hunterdon routes and demand response, while Warren transportation options are limited. No official source promises a jail stop, automatic discharge ride, family waiting area, or rideshare procedure at Warren County Correctional Center.
Confirm the pickup location, permitted waiting area, release point, and likely processing status with Warren before anyone travels. Hunterdon LINK can be reached at 908-788-1368 or link@co.hunterdon.nj.us, but no official source establishes a direct release ride from the jail. A court appearance or transfer can also change where a person exits custody.
Note: Transportation should be arranged only after Warren confirms the physical release site and that no transfer or hold remains.
Hunterdon County Bond Release Steps
Warren County publishes a local bail process for people in its physical custody. First verify bail and the accepted method by calling 908-475-7900. During business hours, bail may be posted at the originating municipal court or Superior Court. The court receipt then goes to Warren County Correctional Center for verification before release processing can finish.
Warren states that on-site money-order bail is accepted 24 hours and cash is not accepted there. Its page also lists a $50 nonrefundable filing fee for a Superior Court criminal charge. These details should be confirmed for the specific case before payment or travel. Bail on one charge does not clear another warrant, sentence, or detainer.
The custody flow is: court or approved payment authority, receipt verification, hold check, jail processing, then either community release or the next custody action. A receipt proves a payment step. It does not prove the person has crossed the release point.
Hunterdon County Reentry at Release
Hunterdon County created a Reentry Coordinator role that works mainly at Warren County Jail and at times with the Hunterdon Sheriff. The role adds a local bridge between confinement and release. Documented duties include help obtaining identity documents, arranging treatment assessments before release, and giving written information about programs, treatment, and financial obligations.
The coordinator also connects people with outside resources and prepares quarterly data. Those tasks do not establish that a particular person has been released. They explain how Hunterdon addresses practical needs before and at discharge despite keeping inmates in another county. For a named person, release status still comes from the custodian’s event, court authority, or the relevant state system.

Hunterdon County Release Supervision
Parole and probation both allow community placement under rules, but they come from different systems. Parole generally follows a prison term and is administered by the New Jersey State Parole Board. Probation is imposed by a court and managed through NJ Courts. Neither label alone proves a person’s current physical location.
NJDOC is a useful identity and state-prison-history starting point. It does not keep a released profile current, so present parole status must be checked with the State Parole Board. New Jersey VINE is an event and notification channel. Select New Jersey at VINELink, match the person and reporting jurisdiction, and register from the individual record if notification is offered. A transfer alert is not a release alert. Save the agency, time, and exact wording, then check the underlying record when formal proof matters.
Hunterdon County Federal Release Checks
No operating federal prison or ICE detention center was found inside Hunterdon County, but a local custody trail can still lead to federal or immigration control. A person can leave Warren for USMS, BOP, or ICE. That event ends Warren custody without returning the person to the community.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates released after 1982. A past release date with no facility, or a status of Released or Not in BOP Custody, confirms only that BOP custody ended. A future date is projected. A federal pretrial person held under USMS authority may not yet appear as a sentenced BOP prisoner.
For immigration custody, search the ICE Online Detainee Locator with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact identity and birth data. ICE materials state that the system includes current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. A local “release to ICE” is a transfer. If the locator does not resolve the case, ICE’s reporting line is 1-888-351-4024.
Note: Every status statement should name the agency because one system’s release can be another system’s intake.
Hunterdon County Release Search Compared
Choose the source that owns the custody interval. Systems overlap in names but not in legal scope. A current roster answers a present-snapshot question. A release record answers how one interval ended. A court order explains authority, while supervision and notification systems answer different questions after or before the event.

Hunterdon County Release Facilities
The local facility list contains three distinct roles. The Hunterdon County Correctional Facility page covers Hunterdon processing, transport, current reporting, and alternate incarceration. Warren is the physical jail for all Hunterdon inmates. Edna Mahan is a state prison located in the county, so its release route belongs to NJDOC rather than the county jail record.

- Warren County Correctional Center: ask whether the person remains physically present and whether the last event was release or transfer.

A former Mountainview institution should not be treated as a current release facility because it is absent from NJDOC’s present facility list. Likewise, the lack of a federal or ICE facility in Hunterdon does not rule out a transfer into those systems.
